The art of keeping thyself inspired
By Anton Belardo
Whether you are a fashion designer or a Florist you need a little dose of inspiration in your daily life.
In order for someone to function well we need to keep our inner passion burning.
We need inspiration simply because we want to feel alive, to get that feeling that you want to wake up every day and dream.
As a fashion stylist and as a visual artist, I need to keep my mood swings stable.
I need to be in a certain mood to do well in whatever I do.
Whether it’s illustrating, designing, conceptualizing, events management, or writing
here are some of the things I do to help energize my imagination.
1.) Visuals! Visuals! Visuals!
A good working environment is a productive one.
I like to keep my work area surrounded with good visuals
I have my mood boards, paintings, little trinkets, vintage photos etc. etc.
It’s always good to inject your room with a little imagination.
Music can provoke a certain feeling within us.
A feeling that triggers a thought which leads to an idea.
When I'm working I usually like to make a playlist for any specific project that I'm doing.
For example if I'm doing a crazy 80's inspired shoot, that playlist will be filled with
Madonna, Kylie, electro pop, New Wave and synth pop songs
A little playlist I made the other day:
My Sunday afternoon tea playlist
A.) One- Sky
B.) I am not a robot- Marina and the Diamonds
C.) Lewis takes off his shirt - Owen Pallett
D.) Oceania- Bjork
E.) Maria Callas- Casta diva
F.) Chasing pavements -Adele
G.) Haven't met you yet - Michael Buble
Just another form of visuals.
With the help of sites like youtube and other video hosting sites it’s easy for us to search for different videos on the internet.
A video can also spark something inside us which can help us in our creative process.
Example of a video that I really like:
City limits by Kris Moyes
What better way for us to feed our minds than by sitting down and reading a good piece of literature or article from magazines, books, blogs. etc.?
Invisible Monsters and Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk
Love is my main ingredient in everything I do.
I make sure that I always insert a layer of love into my work.
Without it my art pieces or styling would look lifeless, just another mundane event.
