Did anybody miss their epic debut single ‘Into the Clouds’ in 2009? Yes, we did! But we caught up with it a few months ago and with the news that the long-awaited first album, produced in London, was well on the way. So hi to Oskar Gullstrand and Stefan Storm, aka Swedish electropop duo, The Sound of Arrows.
How to introduce them to the as yet unaware? Well: the irresistibility of Royksopp, the versatility of Air, the kick-ass melodies of the Pet Shop Boys, plus a Neil Tennant-style yearning in the vocals of Stefan Storm, the infectious rhythms of OMD, the intricate layers of Owl City, plus.........well, hear it for yourselves in the new single, Nova.
The musicerati have been quick to spot them and they're credited with the hottest remix of Gaga's Alejandro. So it's no surprise that the big-screen cinematic impact of tracks like "Ruins of Rome," featuring a children's choir, and "Longest Ever Dream" come with an almost 80's timelessness.
Speculation about the "gayness" of the duo has been rife and there's no doubt that their music comes with a giant dollop of gay sensibility. We can, however, report that, sadly, cute Sefan and Oscar are not a couple. Beyond that, we leave the the music and the fantastic videos to speak for themselves.
Let's follow them "Into the Clouds".
