This quote from President Barack Obama at his second inauguration as President deserves a story on its own and a place in the history of the movement for gay equality.
“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”
Obama thus made history as the first President to refer to the struggle for gay equality in his inaugural address.
Lustralboy says: By including calls for full equality and marriage rights in such a defining speech he has declared both to America and the world that they should evolve towards the embrace of gay equality that has always been at the heart of our movement. We applaud his vision, his bravery and his humanity. Over to you, rest of the world.
