Just Friends, the movie. Coming out as seen from Korea.
Coming out is, of course, a feature of gay life globally. The many stories we have to share vault international boundaries too. Which brings us to “Just Friends”, a charming short movie from Korean director, Kim Jho Kwang-soo.

For sure, there are smart ways to come out, dumb ways to do it and, as told here, the definitive not-the-ideal-way to come out to your Mum. Seok-i visits his boyfriend Min-su who is serving in the military. When they run unexpectedly into Min-su's mother, they explain that they are 'just friends.' Watch Part 2 of the movie to see the moment she comes face to face with the truth. Here comes the trailer
This short film was made with immaculate attention to detail and an underlying and unusual heartfelt sympathy for the situation faced by the principal characters. The two main actors give convincing performances while the very funny moments in the plot are exploited to the full.
If you enjoyed the trailer, do check out the whole movie and the happy ending. Just 30 minutes out of your life for a real treat.
